WebEx application updates

Cisco periodically provides updates of the WebEx client application and its suite of Productivity Tools.

WebEx client application update

Option 1:

For users who's companies allow the installation of software to your pc, you will automatically be offered the new client software to download and install prior to the start of your next WebEx meeting. We would advise that you allow between 5-10 minutes, depending on your network speed.

Should you have any questions regarding an upgrade please contact the Help desk, or your BT Conferencing account manager.

Option 2:

For users who are in a locked down-environment, BT will coordinate with your account managers to arrange for the pre-installation of the application. We would advise that during the actual upgrade, users please avoid any meetings as your WebEx experience may not be as you had expected.

For IT leads, here is a summary of the steps necessary to upgrade:

  1. Allow administration rights for any WebEx users (hosts and attendees) so that the installation can take place when the user next joins a WebEx meeting.
  2. Push the MSI package to all computers during the period of migration. This means that the WebEx application will be pre-installed and there will be no delays when a host or attendee joins their first meeting. The installation packages available for Microsoft Explorer, Safari and FireFox can be found below.

Productivity tools update

If you use Outlook or Lotus notes to schedule your meetings, or have WebEx OneClick in your system tray, we recommend you install the latest version of Productivity Tools. The link to download and install the latest version can be found by logging on to the My WebEx area within your WebEx site, then choosing Support, and clicking Meeting Centre, within the downloads for individual services area.

If you don't have administration rights and are unable to install the new software, please contact your local IT infrastructure lead for further help.
